Let’s answer some questions about the hemp CBD that many people have. What is it? What’s it for? Is it safe? Isn’t it all the same? Will it get me high?
FIRST: It’s important to note that we’re talking about CBD hemp oil, which is not to be confused with just hemp oil. They are two different things while being from the same family. To better understand this just think of a garden family – such as Solanaceae – The nightshade family. Members of this family include tomatoes, peppers (both sweet and hot), eggplants, tomatillos and potatoes (but not sweet potatoes). We all know we would not make hash browns out of peppers or tomatoes right? I suppose we could but would we? I think not. Same thing applies to Hemp and Marijuana. Same family, two different things.

Hemp CBD Oil will NOT get you high because CBD oil derived from industrial hemp and is non-psychoactive. The high is caused by THC which is so minimal in Hemp it’s hardly worth noting. If someone tells you they got “high” from Hemp CBD, they were, more than likely, using a marijuana derived CBD oil. One must understand what they are buying.
Funny story: I recently read where someone went through a hemp farmers field and cut the tops out of most of the plants and took them. I imagine someone thought they were getting marijuana and while it’s not funny about the loss to the farmer, it is quite comical imagining the thieves smoking hemp.
CBD stands for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol, is one of the primary natural cannabinoids found in the industrial hemp plant. Phytocannabinoids are cannabinoids derived from plants. Endocannabinoids are cannabinoids produced naturally in the human body. They like each other.
How Does CBD Work? CBD primarily interacts with your body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS). The ECS regulates processes in the body and their receptors are found in the following areas: the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. In each area, the cannabinoid system performs different tasks, but the goal is always the same – To maintain internal stability (homeostasis.)
Is it safe? The World Health Organization report from 2018 says CBD is considered “”” safe, well tolerated, and not associated with any significant adverse public health effects. Moreover, they went on to say that it is “not associated with abuse potential and does not induce physical dependence.” According to a 2015 Senate testimony by Dr. Nora Volkov published by the U.S. Department of (HHS) – CBD is actually quite safe. In her words: “despite its molecular similarity to THC, CBD only interacts with cannabinoid receptors weakly at very high doses, and the alterations in thinking and perception caused by THC are not observed with CBD. The different pharmacological properties of CBD give it a different safety profile from THC.”
NOT all CBD products are created equal. Not by a long shot. PLEASE do not pick up any ol’ product just because someone “said” it was the best. Considering the current unregulated state of CBD, there are a lot of really sketchy companies out there that are currently selling some sketchy products. Some may claim they are pure, when in fact they contain hardly any of the compound at all. Some companies lack quality control or may not even know the source of the product they are selling.
My advice is to be very wary when shopping around. Do your research and only buy from a reputable company. Always look them up first.
Where do they source their products?
Do they offer a good guarantee?
Do they have excellent customer reviews?
Do they state where the product is grown?
Is it grown organically?
Is their extraction method safe?
Does it have additives and if so what are they?
I DECIDED TO FIND THE BEST CBD company (in my opinion.) I started out with 2019 reviews of the top 20 and used the criteria I stated above. Narrowed that down to 10, then 5 and then 2. I talked to people at the company of those last two. I settled on CBDPURE. Did you know they have a 90 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE ?? YEP – you read that right. 90 DAYS.
From their website:
CBDPure oils are made with non-GMO hemp, grown in Colorado by local farmers. Our hemp oil is minimally processed by following the highest organic standards at every step of our growing, harvesting, and bottling process. We use no chemical herbicides or pesticides, and no artificial additives or preservatives are added to our oils.
Before any of our CBD products leave our facility, we sample and test each batch to ensure that it meets the purity standards that we demand. From soil to oil, we have a stringent testing program at every step. Our finished CBD oil is not just tested internally, every batch is also third-party lab tested for potency and quality and these lab results are made public to our customers.
Every batch of our CBD oil undergoes a supercritical CO2 Extraction process to create a pure, clean, quality oil. CO2 Extraction is the safest method for extracting CBD from hemp plants.
Unlike other extraction methods that may require many hours to purge toxic solvents trapped in the oil, CO2 fluid extraction methodology delivers a clean, unaltered and consistent product.
Evaporated CO2 from the CO2 extraction process leaves you with virtually no residual solvent. The CBD oil obtained through CO2 extraction is a full spectrum cannabinoid-rich product.
In addition to the non-toxic CO2 extraction method, the organic hemp seed oil that is paired with our highly concentrated CBD oil is cold pressed to retain its nutritional value and flavor.
When you buy a CBDPure product, you are buying the purest CBD oil from natural sources, that is 100% free of any synthetic or artificial ingredients. We test every batch of oil that we process to ensure that it meets the purity standards that we demand.
At CBDPure, we are proud of our firm policy against animal-testing.

A Short history of CBD oil: 1940 -| Roger Adams isolates CBD from marijuana, but didn’t exactly know what he had found. 1946 -| Dr. Walter S. Loewe conducts the first CBD tests on lab animals. 1964 – Raphael Mechoulam isolates and describes the chemical structure of CBD. In the Late1960’s -Mechoulam and his lab begin testing their isolated cannabinoids on primates. Mid-1970’s – A cannabis tincture is released for medicinal use by the British Pharmacopoeia. 1978 – New Mexico becomes the first U.S. state to “legally” acknowledge cannabis as a medicine. 1980 – Mechoulam teams up with South American researchers to publish study on cannabis and epilepsy. 1996 – California becomes the first state to legalize medical marijuana. October 7, 2003 – The United States government patents CBD as a neuroprotectant under U.S. Patent #6,630,507 ( and a very wacky thing for the US Department of HHS to receive a patent on CBD – but at the same time it remained on the list of scheduled narcotics.) 2013 -The story of Charlotte Figi surfaces. (The Charlotte’s Web Story) 2014 – Several states pass legislation for the legalization of CBD. 2017 – steps initiated for potential FDA approval of CBD as a medicine.
